Massive Overhaul Coming: CDA Chief Orders Rapid Development in Islamabad’s Key Sectors
In a major push to fast-track urban development, Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, on Monday ordered the acceleration of ongoing development projects across several sectors of the federal capital. He reaffirmed his resolve to transform Islamabad into a model city, characterized by world-class infrastructure and efficient public service delivery.
During a high-level meeting, Chairman Randhawa reviewed the progress of key development works in sectors C-14, C-15, C-16, E-12, and I-12. The session was attended by senior CDA officials including Member Administration and Estate Talat Mahmood, Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza, and Member Planning Dr. Khalid Hafiz.
“We must not only speed up development but also ensure that no compromise is made on quality and standards,” Randhawa stressed during the briefing.
To enhance field-level coordination, the Chairman directed the Deputy Commissioner CDA and relevant directorates to establish on-site camp offices in all active development zones. This initiative aims to resolve citizens’ complaints swiftly and transparently, right at their doorsteps.
Randhawa also unveiled plans to upgrade the city’s infrastructure by installing modern street lighting, widening main entry points, and improving road networks in the new sectors.
He further ordered a crackdown on encroachments and illegal structures, instructing that all obstacles hampering progress must be removed without delay.
Applauding a recent record-breaking commercial plot auction, Randhawa termed it a “historic success” and praised the performance of all departments involved. He directed the Finance Wing to promptly allocate funds to ensure the timely completion of development projects.
“CDA is fully committed to transforming Islamabad into a model city,” Randhawa reiterated. “We are utilizing every available resource to meet the housing needs of our citizens in an efficient and transparent manner.”
