Television and news channels actively promoted the festival with special transmissions. Geo TV also aired a dedicated segment, covering Basant celebrations and taking reviews from actors participating in the event.

Pakistani television actor Naeema Butt also shared her views on Basant amid news of a bomb blast, after which she was abruptly taken off air. The incident soon turned into a major controversy, drawing widespread condemnation across digital and social media platforms. News anchor Huma Amir Shah, in particular, faced intense criticism, with many users calling out the channel’s policies as shameful.

Recently, Abdullah Sultan—the anchor who cut Naeema Butt off air along with Human Amir Shah—shared a video on his Instagram from the same transmission. In the clip, he expressed condolences over the loss of lives and stated that the show must go on, saying they were deeply grieved by what happened in Islamabad but also wanted to send a message to the enemies that they would not surrender. Abdullah Sultan is receiving brutal backlash, as furious netizens flood the comments with anger and disgust, asserting that the true face of Pakistan’s media is no longer hidden from the public. One wrote, “Can you please shut up? Everyone knows your channel’s reality.” Another commented, “Please kindly unfollow these two pathetic anchors. Sad.” One user wrote, “Talking this nonsense to anyone else—who are the enemies? You! You are dancing for the sake of your own pleasure.” One advised, “People are quite understanding.
