Apple is Also Planning an iPhone Flip Alongside iPhone Fold — Here Are The Details

Apple is preparing to enter the foldable smartphone segment this September with the expected debut of its first foldable device, tentatively called the iPhone Fold. However, a new report indicates the company is also exploring a second design.

According to Bloomberg, Apple has begun testing a flip-style foldable iPhone internally. The device, commonly referred to as the iPhone Flip, features a clamshell design.

Internal Testing Underway

The report states that Apple has moved beyond early concept discussions and has built internal prototypes of the flip-style device. A supply chain source said the company has conducted testing but has not yet committed to mass production.

Earlier reports from established industry analysts also suggested Apple was evaluating a square, flip-style form factor. This points to broader experimentation with foldable designs rather than focusing on a single model.

Launch Date

Details about the testing phase remain limited. However, the presence of working prototypes indicates Apple is assessing multiple design directions before finalizing its long-term foldable strategy.

Industry speculation suggests that the earliest possible launch window for a flip-style iPhone could be around 2027. A later release remains possible, depending on technological development and market demand.

Apple is expected to monitor consumer response to its first book-style foldable before deciding whether to move forward with another form factor.

Different Designs for Different Users

The book-style foldable, expected to launch first, will likely emphasize productivity. It is anticipated to feature a large inner display that delivers tablet-like functionality when unfolded.

In contrast, a clamshell foldable would target users who prioritize portability and compact design. The device would offer a smaller folded footprint, similar to existing flip-style models such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Motorola Razr 60.

Seedance’s AI Videos Are So Good, Hollywood Wants Them Gone

Hollywood studios and industry groups are criticizing a new artificial intelligence video model, Seedance 2.0, accusing it of enabling widespread copyright infringement shortly after its launch.

ByteDance introduced Seedance 2.0 earlier this week. According to the Wall Street Journal, the updated model is currently available to Chinese users through ByteDance’s Jianying app and will soon roll out globally via the CapCut app.

Seedance 2.0 allows users to generate short videos, currently up to 15 seconds, by entering a text prompt. Similar to OpenAI’s Sora model, the tool has drawn criticism over copyright issues, especially since the model is capable of producing clips that look identical to Hollywood-grade movies.

Concerns escalated after an X user shared a video showing actors Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt in a fight scene, claiming it was created using a brief prompt in Seedance 2.0. Rhett Reese, screenwriter of “Deadpool,” responded publicly, expressing concern about the implications for creators.

The Motion Picture Association issued a statement from CEO Charles Rivkin calling on ByteDance to stop what he described as infringing activity. Rivkin stated that the service engaged in unauthorized use of US copyrighted works on a large scale and argued that launching a platform without meaningful safeguards disregards established copyright law that supports American jobs.

The Human Artistry Campaign, supported by Hollywood unions and trade groups, described Seedance 2.0 as an attack on creators globally. The actors’ union SAG-AFTRA said it stands with studios in condemning what it called blatant infringement enabled by the new model.

Cease and Desist Letters Sent

Reports indicate that Seedance-generated videos have included characters owned by The Walt Disney Company, such as Spider-Man, Darth Vader, and Grogu, known as Baby Yoda. Axios reported that Disney sent a cease and desist letter accusing ByteDance of conducting a “virtual smash and grab” of its intellectual property by reproducing, distributing, and creating derivative works featuring its characters.

Disney has taken action against AI firms in other cases, including reportedly sending a cease and desist letter to Google, while also signing a three-year licensing agreement with OpenAI.

Variety reported that Paramount Global also sent ByteDance a cease and desist letter. The letter stated that much of the content produced by the Seed platforms contains detailed depictions of Paramount’s well-known franchises and characters and is often visually and audibly similar to its films and television programs.

Jazz and Universal Service Fund Sign Badin Project to Expand Digital Connectivity in Sindh

Jazz, leading connectivity provider from JazzWorld, and the Universal Service Fund (USF) have taken another step to expand digital connectivity in Sindh with the signing of the Badin Project, aimed at bringing reliable mobile voice and broadband services to underserved communities in District Badin.

The agreement, formalized at a ceremony in Karachi, reflects a shared effort to extend meaningful digital access to areas where connectivity has remained limited. The ceremony was attended by the Honorable Governor of Sindh, Mr. Kamran Tessori, and the Federal Minister for IT & Telecom, Ms. Shaza Fatima, as Chief Guests. The project marks continued progress in strengthening telecom infrastructure to support inclusive digital access across the province.

The PKR 668 million Badin Project will strengthen telecom access in the district by deploying 45 new telecom sites and upgrading four existing ones, extending reliable voice and high-speed mobile broadband services to 144 unserved and underserved mauzas and reaching an estimated 0.43 million people.

The expanded network will support access to digital financial services, online learning, telehealth, and government e-services, while enabling small businesses and farmers with improved digital tools and generating direct and indirect employment during deployment and operations.

Aamir Ibrahim, CEO JazzWorld, said, “Connectivity is the foundation of inclusive growth. We appreciate the continued support of the Universal Service Fund and the Ministry of IT & Telecom in enabling partnerships that bring high-quality digital services to communities that have long remained on the margins of the digital economy. GameSir is preparing to bring its GameHub PC platform to macOS, aiming to let users run Windows and Steam games directly on Apple computers without the need for streaming or complex virtualization.

GameHub is an application developed by GameSir, a company known for gaming controllers and related software tools. The platform is already available on Android, where it allows users to run Windows and Steam titles by linking their game libraries inside the app.

With macOS support on the way, GameSir plans to extend the same functionality to MacBook, iMac, Mac Mini, and Mac Studio users. Once released, the Mac version is expected to let users run Windows and Steam games natively on macOS. This would allow Macs to function similarly to gaming PCs without requiring a Windows installation or complicated emulators.

Gaming Focused Enhancements

GameSir has shared teaser posters and an official announcement outlining several customization features designed for gaming on Apple Silicon hardware.

The macOS version of GameHub will include AI image upscaling, also described as super resolution, to improve visual clarity. It will also offer graphics performance adjustments that let users balance image quality and frame rates.

In addition, the platform will provide color mode settings for HDR or enhanced color profiles, along with a V Sync toggle to manage frame timing and reduce screen tearing.

These tools are designed to give users more control over how games look and perform on Mac systems.

GameSir has not confirmed a release date. The company has only stated that the macOS version of GameHub is coming soon.
