LG Announces Debut Range Of Micro RGB TVs—Including A CES Award-Winning 100 Incher
Any lingering doubts that Micro and Mini RGB technology looks set to be the biggest TV story of 2026 have been swept away today with the revelation by LG Electronics that it will be launching a range of “Micro RGB Evo” TVs at the upcoming CES 2026 in Las Vegas.
As with Micro and Mini RGB TVs previously announced by TCL, Samsung and Hisense (with the latter two brands actually releasing Micro RGB and Mini RGB TVs respectively in the latter stages of 2025) LG’s Micro RGB Evo TVs appear set to deliver profound advances in LED TV color performance by replacing the normal single blue LEDs pushing light through (in most current regular LED TVs) layers of Quantum Dot film approach with a system where color is created by independent red, green and blue LEDs tucked into a neat optical lens behind the LED panel.

Joining its arch rival Samsung in going for the Micro RGB name for its new TV technology rather than the Mini RGB name currently preferred by Hisense and TCL suggests that LG has, like Samsung, managed to get its LED lights down to sub 100 micron sizes. An achievement which has the potential, at least, to deliver extra precision in the delivery of the much wider color gamuts and volumes RGB LED technology is capable of.
Set to be available in 75, 86 and 100-inch screen sizes (the latter of which has already won a CES 2026 Innovation Award), LG’s MRGB95 Micro RGB Evo TVs are claimed to be capable of covering a full 100% of the key DCI-P3, Adobe RGB and even BT.2020 color spectrums – claims supported by renowned independent testing company Intertek.
A new era of color?
The BT.2020 color spectrum is so wide that up until now it’s almost exclusively been used as a “container” format for narrower spectrums, but now that the MRGB95 range of TVs is joining other Mini and Micro RGB sets in claiming full BT.2020 coverage, it’s tempting to think that there might at least be discussions taking place somewhere in the creative world about taking advantage of what BT.2020 could do. Even if the filmmaking world tends to be pretty conservative about such matters.
While LG won’t be drawn on the exact number of independently controlled local dimming zones being used to help further control the use of light in its MRGB95 range, it does state that there are more than a thousand – an impressive figure that presumably even extends to the smallest screen in the MRGB95 series.
Powerful new processing
Controlling all of those zones and optimizing the capabilities of the new Micro RGB lighting system will, of course, require a particularly big TV brain. Cue LG’s new Dual AI Engine-based Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen 3, which as well as providing enhanced Micro Dimming Ultra control over the local dimming system also deploys an RGB Primary Color Ultra feature for unlocking the full color potential of the new type of LED panel, and powers a new Dual Super Upscaling feature that delivers simultaneously two separate types of AI upscaling to enhance the sharpness of HD sources without the resulting pictures looking unnatural or unbalanced.
The latest AI processing techniques are present, too, in the many personalisation features of LG’s latest webOS platform. Voice ID enables the TVs to switch to different users’ personalised home pages just by recognising their speech; improved AI Picture and Sound wizards help optimize the TV’s performance to your personal tastes; and upgraded AI Concierge, AI Chatbot and AI Search features respectively help you explore the TV’s AI features, delve into ways of improving the TV’s performance/troubleshoot problems, and receive more intelligent and connected responses to your content search requests.
“Achieving the utmost visual fidelity is the goal of any display,” says Park Hyoung-sei, president of the LG Media Entertainment Solution Company. “And with the LG Micro RGB evo, we have achieved a milestone previously thought impossible for this category. This launch marks the evolution of the RGB TV, redefining industry standards to offer uncompromising performance for customers who demand exceptional color accuracy.”
The LG Micro RGB range will be on show at booth #15004 at the CES from January 6-9, though an on-sale date for the TVs has yet to be confirmed. Pricing is yet to be confirmed too, though intriguingly LG has confirmed that it is actually ranging the MRGB95 TVs below its premium OLED TVs…

iPhone Fold Displays and Camera Setup Detailed in New Report
Apple is expected to enter the foldable smartphone segment next year with a device widely referred to as the iPhone Fold, although its final product name has not yet been confirmed. New details about the device have now surfaced through a post on Weibo by known leakster Digital Chat Station.
Authentication and Form Factor
According to the leak, the iPhone Fold will use a side mounted fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication. The report suggests that Apple will not include Face ID on the device, nor will it rely on an under display fingerprint scanner. The setup aligns with the book style foldable design used by most foldable smartphones currently on the market.
Display Details
The leak also outlines the screen sizes for both displays. The main folding display is said to measure 7.58 inches diagonally and will reportedly feature an under display selfie camera. The outer cover screen is tipped to measure 5.25 inches and will include a hole punch cutout for the front facing camera.
Camera Setup
On the rear, the iPhone Fold is expected to feature a dual camera system. At least one of the rear sensors is said to offer 48MP resolution. No further details about the secondary camera have been shared at this stage.
Market Expectations
Industry analysts have previously suggested that Apple’s entry into the foldable segment could bring renewed attention to the category. If the current timeline holds, the iPhone Fold is expected to arrive in 2026, with its impact on the broader foldable smartphone market becoming clearer after launch.

Easy Apple to Android Transfer is Finally Official
Apple has started rolling out the first beta of iOS 26.3, just days after releasing iOS 26.2 to the public. The new beta introduces several changes, most notably a built-in tool to move data from an iPhone to an Android device and expanded notification support for third-party wearables.
This is the first time we are getting a built-in data transfer tool to move between Apple and Android devices.
The new native tool allows users to move apps, photos, contacts, messages, and other data directly from an iPhone to an Android device. To begin the transfer, both devices need to be connected to the same wireless network.

Unlike previous solutions, this feature is integrated directly into iOS and does not require users to download any separate apps.
Notification Forwarding
Another major change in iOS 26.3 is the introduction of Notification Forwarding, though the feature is currently limited to users in the European Union. It allows third-party wearables to receive notifications from an iPhone.
Users can enable the feature by navigating to Settings, then Notifications, and selecting Notification Forwarding. Once enabled, users can choose which apps are allowed to send notifications to their wearable device.

The feature only supports a single device at a time. If an Apple Watch is already connected to the iPhone, notification forwarding to a third-party wearable will not be available. Apple introduced this change in response to the European Union’s Digital Markets Act, which requires broader access to core iOS system features.
Weather Wallpaper Changes
iOS 26.3 Beta 1 also updates the Weather wallpaper experience. The wallpaper now appears in its own dedicated section within the Lock Screen customization menu, making it easier to find and manage.

Apple is expected to release the final version of iOS 26.3 in January.
