Samsung Completes Crucial 6G Network Test With Blazing Fast Downloads

Published

on

Samsung announced that it has successfully completed testing of a key technology expected to play a central role in future 6G networks. The company, which is also active in telecommunications equipment research and development, conducted the test in partnership with KT Corporation.

3Gbps Download Speed

The companies tested eXtreme multiple input multiple output, or X MIMO, technology in the 7GHz band. During the trial, they recorded a peak download speed of 3Gbps using an ultra-high-density antenna system.

The system integrates four times the number of antennas compared to earlier designs without increasing the overall size of the equipment. Its physical dimensions are similar to previous generation hardware.

X MIMO Seen as Core to 6G

X MIMO is considered a foundational component for 6G networks. The 7GHz band is viewed as a leading candidate for 6G deployment because it offers a balance between network capacity and coverage. It remains within the millimeter wave spectrum.

As part of the test, researchers transmitted eight data streams from a base station to a user device. KT contributed its expertise in simulating real-world outdoor network conditions.

While 6G development remains in its early stages, Samsung’s latest test represents progress toward next-generation mobile network infrastructure.

Published

on

Xiaomi has confirmed its next global launch event will take place in Barcelona on February 28 ahead of MWC. The company’s teaser on X carries the tagline “The New Wave of Imagery is arriving,” indicating that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is expected to make its international debut during the event.

This means we can expect these phones to arrive in Pakistan soon as well.

Expected Announcements

The standard Xiaomi 17 is also rumored to launch globally alongside the Ultra model. Additional devices said to be joining the lineup include the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro, the Xiaomi Tag, and the Xiaomi Watch 5.

There has been no indication that the Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max will receive a global rollout. Current expectations suggest these models will remain exclusive to China, including the version featuring a rear display.

Global Variant Specs

Recent reports indicate that the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra will retain the same pricing as their predecessors in Europe. Apart from battery capacity, the global variants are expected to match their Chinese counterparts in specifications.

The global Xiaomi 17 is said to feature a 6,330 mAh battery, compared to the 7,000 mAh unit available in China. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is expected to carry a 6,000 mAh battery internationally, down from 6,800 mAh in the Chinese version.

vivo V70 Brings a Welcome Refresh With a Slimmer, More Premium Build And New Cameras

Published

on

Vivo has introduced the V70, carrying over several key features from the V60 while refining the design and display. The device brings structural changes, a new fingerprint sensor, and camera upgrades, while keeping the same chipset.

Design and Display

The V70 moves to a flat 6.59 inch OLED panel with a resolution of 1,260 x 2,750 pixels, replacing the previous 6.77 inch quad curved screen. The new display supports a 120Hz refresh rate and remains a 10-bit panel. Peak global brightness rises to 1,800 nits from 1,500 nits, while peak local brightness remains at 5,000 nits.

The smaller display contributes to a narrower body at 74.3mm wide, compared to 77.0mm on the V60. The phone is also slimmer at 7.4mm or 7.6mm, depending on the color option, down from 7.5mm or 7.8mm. Weight drops to 187g or 194g, compared to 192g or 201g previously.

Durability remains a focus. The V70 carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for resistance to dust, water, and high-pressure water jets. It has been drop tested from 1.8 meters. The display is protected by Schott Xensation Core glass.

The chassis now uses a 6-series aluminum alloy frame instead of plastic. The frame undergoes multiple polishing stages to achieve its final finish. The phone is available in Authentic Black, which is the thinnest and lightest version, as well as Canary Yellow, Alpine Gray, and Sandalwood Brown.

Internals and Software

The phone continues to use the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset found in the V60. It is available with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage.

The V70 launches with Android 16 and OriginOS 6. vivo has committed to six years of OS updates and security patches. By comparison, the V60 received six years of security updates but four years of OS upgrades.

Cameras

The rear camera setup includes a 50MP main sensor with optical image stabilization, now using the Sony LYT 700V 1/1.56 inch sensor. It is paired with a 50MP telephoto camera using a 1/1.95-inch sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. Video recording improves to 4K at 60fps, up from 4K at 30fps on the V60.

The main and telephoto cameras support five portrait focal lengths: 23mm at 1x for landscape portraits, 35mm at 1.5x for street portraits, 50mm at 2.2x for classic framing, 85mm at 3.7x, and 100mm at 4.3x for close-ups. The camera system also offers ZEISS-style bokeh modes.

Battery and Pricing

The V70 retains the 6,500mAh semi-solid battery technology. Vivo states it can deliver 11 hours of PUBG gameplay or five hours of 4K video recording at 60fps. The battery is designed to operate in extreme temperatures, running Google Maps for 10 hours at 40°C and for eight hours at -20°C. Charging is handled by a 90W wired FlashCharge.

The vivo V70 will launch soon in Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, which hopefully means Pakistan as well. Pricing details have not yet been announced.
